The intro which kickstarts the album doesn’t sounds more of an interesting track. The chilling intro consists of very sad depressing sounding synth and the ringing of bells, howling of wolves etc. It brings us into an atmosphere, lost in a dark swampy forest land. The second track is DEPRESSING PATHS THROUGH FULMOON FORESTS. Once the keyboard in the song hits in, there you feel an automatic pain in the stomach. The guitars in this song is quite good, minimalistic in some parts but very artistic and touching. The keyboard blended very well with the guitar in a choir sound. The vocals were also pretty insane. The third track EINSAMKEIT starts off with some agonizing, torturing vocals. Then a blend of distorted guitars mixes in, very slow with no keyboards. The bassline is though hard to hear. After a while the song speeds up, repeating the riffs, but never gets it boring.
The next songs are more BURZUM influenced...LEFT TO WEEP AND MOURN. A headbanging rigg comes in, which is pumping yet overtly depressing. The simple drums with the keyboard and the vocals definitely would leave you to weep and mourn. DWELLING LIFELESS, the sixth track was nothing special, as I expected high out of this, being the title track. It seemed like a clone of SILENCER with a WIGRID side. MYSTERIES start off with a guitar resembling BURZUM, preferably portraying riffs like DET SOM ENGANG VAR. The sound exactly matches BURZUM with SILENCER vocals. VAST AND DISMAL CHAMBERS starts off with minimalistic drums and torturing guitars. However, the depressive part of the song vanishes somewhere in the middle. Nonetheless, passing this off as a good song. ENDTIME SERMON, would perhaps be my favorite number from the album. The guitars are quite dramatic and the vocals aren’t as extreme as it should be and that’s the whole beauty of the song. It’s a fantastic song and after the tracks 6, 7 and 8, this track keeps the haunting side going. EXIT the closing track, is lot like the intro and the keyboard makes you remind of the band XASTHUR. All in all a painful outro.
Suicidal Black Metal is strongly injected with emotions of isolation, coldness and depression combined with beauty as well. The vocalist sings in a very different way that pierces through your heart. Coupled with drums and steady riffs, it creates a space like a forest, trapping you with unlimitedly huge sorrow. All in all, I was very excited after enjoying this album and I have to recommend it to everyone.
Bottom Line
DSBM followers should definitely check out such unforgettable crowning act.
