Lamb of God is arguably one of the best-known heavy metal bands in the world, and has released six albums in their 16-year long career. Although Overture India's management refused to officially comment on the development, Lamb of God's official website has confirmed Bangalore's Palace Grounds as the venue for their May 15 gig, as part of its world tour.
The news has sent heavy metal fans in the country in a frenzy. The Facebook event page for the concert has already got over 1,800 confirmed attendees, and even Twitter users have been tweeting about the event ever since it was announced, while the official website of Overture India has reportedly received 13,000 hits in a single day.
Opening acts In the meanwhile, Indian metal bands are hoping to land a slot at the event, and perform alongside the band.
Sahil Makhija, frontman of Demonic Resurrections, says, “After the deba- cle of Rock In India, the fact that Lamb of God is coming to India is like a salvation to the metal heads here.
We are definitely hoping to get a chance to open for them.“
Vinit Bharucha, bassist of Bhayanak Maut, is a fan of the band and says that it was the first heavy metal band he had a blast listening to, “I couldn't have dreamt of this day, and I'm extremely excited. It's a big thing for the metal scene and will be very inspiring for fans in the country. It would be an honour for us to perform on the same platform as them.“ Bhayanak Maut is already getting support about the same on Twitter, as fans have started a `hashtag' called BMforLOG, which they are tweeting frenetically, in the hope that the band gets a shot to open for Lamb of God.
Support for bands Says Shraddha Subramanian, a metal fan, “I'd love to see Bhayanak Maut per- forming with Lamb of God, since I think their sound is influenced by the band, and they play decent covers of the band too.“
According to sources, as many as six international bands have also expressed interest to the organizers to perform with Lamb of God, but the organizers are still in the process of finalizing details of the same.
