LUCID RECESS wins the prestigious TOTO AWARDS for MUSIC 2011 held in Bangalore on 8th January 2011. The band received a prize amount of Rs. 50,000.

Toto Funds the Arts (TFA) is a non-profit trust set up in 2004 in memory of Angirus 'Toto' Vellani, who was intensely passionate about music, literature and

film. It nurtures and encourages young artists in India through awards, workshops and other events. Every year, TFA Awards are given in three different

categories – Music, Creative Writings (English and Kannada) and Photography.

MUSIC AWARD:
Toto’s first love and TFA’s first award recognises exceptionally talented bands and individuals making any kind of music, in any language, from rock to folk

or metal to jazz. The only constraint is that applicants must be under 30 years of age, and their submissions must be original compositions.

Each year, one winning entry receives a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

For TFA Music Awards 2011, the three jurors were: founder and owner of Rock Street Journal (India’s only rock and metal music magazine in existence since

1993) Amit Saigal, the head of events and promotions at Rock Street Journal Siddhartha Menon, and Amyt Datta, the virtuoso guitar player who has lent his

unique style and technique to bands like SKINNEY ALLEY and PINK NOISE.

The jury was unanimous in choosing LUCID RECESS as the award winner.

The jury had to say the following on the music of LUCID RECESS:
“This is a Progressive Alternative band that achieves an unfailingly high professional standard. Full marks for the passion that comes through in their

music. “These guys should be heard a lot more”.
