SWARATHMA has had a fabulous year so far! They’ve toured Morocco and the UK playing at some great festivals like LOVEBOX, LARMER TREE FESTIVAL and AWTAR. They’ve recently launched their own iPhone application, becoming the first Indian band to do so. And they’ve also released their first music video in which they’ve collaborated with legendary classical musician Shubha Mudgal.
After a roller coaster of a year, it’s only fitting that SWARATHMA be invited to play at the pre-launch part of Nokia Music Connects in India; a music conference that focuses on the music industry in India. The music industry in India is growing exponentially and SWARATHMA is the best band to celebrate that!
SWARATHMA’s performance at Nokia Music Connects has a special surprise! The band will be collaborating with Australian act OLD MAN RIVER to give their songs an exciting new twist. The folksy Australian act blends naturally with their music and they’re reinventing two of their songs EE BHOOMI and BOLO KYA HAI with OLD MAN RIVER on Tuesday.

The band is known for a visually electric interactive stage act featuring faux- folk-horses and Nehru Topis. This act won over audiences at top festivals such as LOVEBOX and LARMER TREE FESTIVAL in London and AWTAR FESTIVAL in Morocco. They have traveled to Hong Kong and Singapore as well.
SWARATHMA’S first music video PYAASI was launched in May 2010. Funded by the GIBSON FOUNDATION and the GLOBAL WATER CHALLENGE, it speaks of the fragility of water told through a story of contrasts. It features the voice of legendary Indian Classical singer Shubha Mudgal who collaborated with SWARATHMA on the track. Academy Award nominated filmmaker Shekhar Kapur was creative consultant to the video that was shot in the wind-swept arid desert land of Rajasthan.
SWARATHMA made waves in the digital world by becoming the first Indian band with an iPhone application. The app, developed by OML Digital allows fans to connect with the band, get Google Map directions to the next SWARATHMA performance, watch video and even play along with a song using the motion sensor feature of the iPhone. This initiative, along with the active web and social network presence is adding to the global reach of the band.
