The first part of JUST FOR THE RECORD deals with music production. A majority of Indian musicians are unaware of new developments in music production techniques. To a large extent, this has to do with poor training and information dissemination of the same. As a result, the bulk of recordings that artists release suffer and musicians aren’t able to efficiently showcase their music. JUST FOR THE RECORD will highlight several of these issues, while delving into how software like LOGIC STUDIO can help them produce better recordings. The panellists for these sessions include legendary producer Sam Mills, Vikram Ghatpande as well as successful musicians Ameeth Thomas (JUNKYARD GROOVE), Girish ‘Bobby’ Talwar (ZERO) and Sanjeev Thomas (RAINBOW BRIDGE).

In the second part of this workshop, JUST FOR THE RECORD will focus on how musicians can efficiently promote and market their music in a digital, DIY music industry. The panellists will discuss how musicians can use existing web-based platforms and other self-promotion techniques to reach out to wider audiences and find new fans. The panellists include Vijay Nair (CEO of Only Much Louder and British Council’s International Young Music Entrepreneur of 2009),  Arjun S Ravi (Editor, Indiecision) as well as musicians who’ve achieved success in this DIY world like Ameeth Thomas (JUNKYARD GROOVE) and Suraj Mani (MOTHERJANE).

JUST FOR THE RECORD will take place in two phases across the country. The first three sessions are scheduled to be held in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. The remaining five workshops will be held in Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Shillong and Kolkata in October and November this year.
