Compilation:The Best Of North East Indian Metal

NorthEastMetalCompilation

First of all “Kudos” to North East India Rock Music for bringing out this compilation. It’s not just another album but an effort in bringing out the best in the region and give them an exposure in the national level. North East is always a home for western music (not just metal). From years it is the venue for many rock concerts hosting from White Lion to Scorpions also producing bands like GREAT SOCIETY, LUCID RECESS, SOULMATE and DARK HORIZON who already made an impression in the hearts of metal fans all over the country creating legends like Lau Majaw. But there are many who have that potential but still in search for some exposure. And this album is exactly going to provide them the same.

Now talking about the featured bands, as I said they are among the best (if not the best) metal bands in the region. The featured bands on the compilation are AGE AFTER ARMAGEDDON (Guwahati/Assam), BRUTAL AGITATION (Guwahati/Assam), ELEKTROKORE (Guwahati/Assam), INSANE PROPHECY (Guwahati/Assam), MELODRAMA (Dimapur/Nagaland) and PROJECT MIDNIGHT (Assam). The bands not only sound fresh and new but as heavy as any pro metal band of the country. Most of these bands have made their presence felt in the local circuit from almost a couple of years while some are quite new for me altogether.

The first track by AGE AFTER ARMAGEDDON called ARMAGEDDON REIGNS gives a melodic beginning to the album. The track starts with a melodic guitar solo and is sure to make you think “Where the fuck was this band?”  Just after them comes in BRUTAL AGITATION like a bomb with CARPATHIAN FUNERAL. The power on the vocals and sound arrangement blew my mind right away. Following them is ELEKTROKORE’s SACRIFICE. Now ELEKTROKORE is a band that I personally feel is one of the country’s best Industrial/Electro/Avantgrade Metal act. Their experiments with different sounds and their “kore” phenomena (as they call it) are truly appreciable. Then comes BLASPHEMY OF A DIABOLIC by INSANE PROPHECY. This is probably the heaviest song of the compilation. Although the track by BA is quite heavy enough but it just falls sort. The last two songs are MELODRAMA by MELODRAMA and FOUR BLADES by PROJECT MIDNIGHT thus giving a more Nu-Metal finishing to the album. Where MELODRAMA sounds quite symphonic, PROJECT MIDNIGHT seems to be heavily inspired by the likes of BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE.

I know the album should have featured more bands from the region but it will for sure show a glimpse of the North-East Metal to metalheads from the rest of the country.
