Silver Tears-Dirt Beyond Beauty(E.P)

DirtBeyonBeatutyCD

At times when the growling vocals are conquering the Indian Metal Community, SILVER TEARS is a band that really impressed me with their clean and melodic vocals with two DREAM THEATRE covers at last years BLITZKRIEG (IIT-D’s annual fest). So from the day I’ve heard the news about their debut EP, I have been waiting for the release with much anticipation and my expectations were sky HIGH.

Signed with VANTAGE RECORDS, SILVER TEARS is a Progressive/Experimental metal band from Guwahati comprising Brittanta, Ishan (guitars); Johny (vocals); Raktim (synth); Biswa (bass) and Nawaz (drums). The band was formed couple years back and since then they’ve been performing in various platforms around the North East. And this time they’re out with their debut EP titled DIRT BEYOND BEAUTY. I don’t know how many albums are released under the lable of VANTAGE RECORDS, but this one going to be one of their signature release if not the best. The sound quality and arrangements are brilliant, and the recording is pretty neat. The band sounds tight and individually all the members are very impressing behind their instruments. Johny’s vocals are clean and clear and  he did hit some serious notes. The variations from lower notes to the higher ones are done very swiftly. The drumming is seriously amazing and the guitarists made the songs float with some beautifull solos and same is the case with the synth.

The EP starts with the title track DIRT BEYOND BEAUTY. It’s  a smooth sailing typical progressive metal track that starts very softly but gains speed and energy as it progresses. The second track EUPHONIOUS ODYSSEY have some remarkable variations in between that’s surelly going to add some extra stars in the ratings. Then comes ,. It’s a soft sensual track that sounds more like a love ballad. The fourth and the last track is DRIFTER. This one for me is the best among the rest. Here they showed why they are called a Experimental Metal band i.e they did really experimented with the way they sound and it really is in favour of the band. The song writing is also impressive. The lyrics carry a dark theme speaking mostly of life, love and death. The only thing that troubles me in this album is that their influences from DREAM THEATRE can be feeled the momment one listen to it. Otherwise as I said it’s a very decent release as a debut EP where the band showed their potential and of what they’re capable of doing.

I won’t say that DIRT BEYOND BEAUTY is going to take them places but it will definitelly anounce the arrival of SILVER TEARS in the Indian Metal Scene, as a band which will not settle down untill they reach the top.
