Swedish/German Extreme Metal act ARCH ENEMY have amicably parted ways with guitarist Christopher Amott and have replaced him with 26-year-old American musician Nick Cordle (ARSIS).

HERITAGE is the tenth studio album by Sweden based Progressive Rock/Metal band OPETH. Described by the band’s front man Mikael Akerfeldt as being a Metal band OPETH have redefined their music continually since their debut album ORCHID released back in 1995. Over the years the band has created varied shades of Metal with a large undercurrent of Progressive Rock. HERITAGE released in 2011 is perhaps the band’s most prominent transition towards a more Folk/ Progressive Metal sound.

Spanish Thrash Metal band ANGELUS APATRIDA have entered ULTRASOUND STUDIOS in Moita, Portugal with producer Daniel Cardoso (ANATHEMA, ANNEKE VAN GIERSBERGEN) and sound engineer Hugo Andrade to begin recording their new album for an early 2012 release via CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS. 10 new tracks and two bonus tracks are being recorded for the as-yet-untitled CD, including IT'S RISING!, YOU ARE NEXT, BLOOD ON THE SNOW, VIOLENT DAWN and STILL CORRUPT. The artwork for the album will one again be created by Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes (ARCH ENEMY, FIREWIND, THE CROWN).

Shimla is a great place to relax and enjoy, I always thought of it as a tourist attraction where people come, bask in natures glory and go back to their hectic lives. Everything is peaceful and tranquil and its probably the last place that you would find Metal in right? Well guess what, you are wrong and THE EAR SPLIT are proof of the fact that there might be a pretty substantial Metal scene over there. THE EAR SPLIT is a 4 piece Thrash Metal band hailing from Shimla, a phlegmatic little town situated in Himachal Pradesh, India. The band is essentially motivated by the cause of reaching out to the youth and making them stand for their rights. Their favorite artists/bands include METALLICA, OPETH, MEGADETH, SLIPKNOT, TRIVIUM and ARCH ENEMY.

Following the tremendous success of ACCEPT's comeback album, BLOOD OF THE NATIONS, and accompanying world tour - which consisted of more than 180 shows around the globe - the reformed Heavy Metal legends have now withdrawn from the stage to start work on their next CD.

TAKASAGO ARMY, the new album from Taiwanese Metal band CHTHONIC, can be streamed in its entirety at AOL Music. The CD will be released in North America on 6th September via SPINEFARM RECORDS. Produced by Rickard Bengtsson (ARCH ENEMY, NEMESIS) at SWEET SPOT STUDIOS in Halmstad, Sweden, this 10-track outing completes a trilogy of CHTHONIC releases, telling a story that binds together the band's SEEDIQ BALE and MIRROR OF RETRIBUTION albums, released in 2007 and 2009, respectively.

Multi-national Thrash Metal band NIGHTRAGE will release their fifth album, INSIDIOUS, on 27th September (one day earlier internationally) via LIFEFORCE RECORDS. The CD features guest appearances by Gus G. (FIREWIND), Tomas S. Englund (EVERGREY), Apollo Papathanasio (FIREWIND, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS), John K (BIOMECHANICAL) and the band's former frontman Tomas Lindberg (also known for his work with AT THE GATES, THE CROWN and LOCK UP). Lindberg appeared on the band's first two albums - 2003's SWEET VENGEANCE and 2005's DESCENT INTO CHAOS - before being replaced by Jimmie Strimell, who sang on 2007's A NEW DISEASE IS BORN.

São Paulo, Brazil-based Thrash Metal band MUSICA DIABLO have parted ways with SEPULTURA singer Derrick Green.

Athens, Ohio's SKELETONWITCH will release its new album, FOREVER ABOMINATION, on 11th October via PROSTHETIC RECORDS. The follow-up to 2009's BREATHING THE FIRE was recorded at a LOS ANGELES STUDIOS with producer Matt Hyde (SLAYER, MACHINE HEAD, KREATOR). The effort will include the track THE INFERNAL RESURRECTION, the demo version of which appears as the B-side on the final seven-inch of a limited-edition vinyl trilogy. This marks SKELETONWITCH's first recording with the group's new drummer, former DEMIRICOUS skin-pounder Dustin Boltjes.
