Austrian Extreme Metal band MASTIC SCUM have issued the following update:
"We are currently working on the new album! We are fucking excited about the new record which follows our last album, DUST, our strongest release up to date, of which we are very proud!! However, the new release will be for sure a progression from the songwriting and sound production points of view. Some of the songwriting is already done, but we still have work to do! The new material so far is fucking brutal, combining shredding rhythms, mosh grooves and Grindcore blast attacks! We sure give 100% in the songwriting process and we cannot wait to enjoy with everyone the new overdose of brutal distorted structures! Be prepared!! As our goal is to enter the studio earliest in autumn 2011, we are very focused on our work and will play just a few live shows this summer/fall. Nevertheless, we really look forward to grind with you at our upcoming shows!"

After swallowing the departure of guitarist Richard Ebisch a few weeks ago, LEGION OF THE DAMNED got yet another sad news delivered to their camp: ex bassplayer and friend Twan Fleuren commited suicide.
Viking brutality - check. Johan Hegg’s growls – check. Incredible solos – check. SYSTEM OF A DOWN cover – What? Swedish Melo-Death giant AMON AMARTH are out with their eighth & latest offering SURTUR RISING. Their previous record TWILIGHT OF THE THUNDER GOD, undoubtedly one of the best Melo-Death albums. With SURTUR RISING, AMON AMARTH maintains that standard, if not better.

Melodic Death Metal was probably the first modern genre of Metal that I got into, well unless you consider KORN and LIMP BIZKIT to be real Metal. Me and my friend were really into this genre in college, bands like ARCH ENEMY and IN FLAMES really appealed to us because they were quite accessible unlike the more extreme forms of Metal which we did not understand at that point of time, because of this we started valuing everything that came out from Europe while dissing their American counterparts. We even thought CALIBAN was kickass just because it was from Europe but the fact is it wasn’t even Melo-Death it was Metalcore!. This fascination had reached its peak when we had seen FREAK KITCHEN at Great Indian Rock and my friend said “Yeh Swedish log funk bajaate hain toh bhi phaad hota hai yeh guitar ke saath paida honte hain kya?”(These Swedish even if they play Funk its awesome are these guys born with a guitar or what?) Looking back I really miss those days and ILLDISPOSED while not being a perfect album reminded of the good times we shared.

Sweden based Viking Metal band AMON AMARTH have issued the following update:
The last couple of months we have been busy working on our follow-up to TWILIGHT OF THE THUNDER GOD. Ten songs were written and on 1st October 2010 we started tracking drums for the album in PARK STUDIOS. After a short trip to Tokyo, which included our first-ever show in Japan at the renowned LOUD PARK FESTIVAL, we continued tracking bass and guitars at FASCINATION STREET STUDIOS. Recordings have been going well and we are now more than half way through and the album starts to take shape. We'll keep you updated with more info soon!
