German Death Metal band LAY DOWN ROTTEN are recording their sixth album, MASK OF MALICE at DESERT INN STUDIOS in Germany for a February 2012 release via METAL BLADE RECORDS. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include DEATHCHAIN, AND OUT COME THE WOLVES, HADES RESURRECTED and SWALLOW THE BITTERNESS.

Pennsylvania/New York-based Death Metal band FUNERUS will release its second album, REDUCED TO SLUDGE, on 22nd November via IBEX MOON RECORDS. Violent and brooding, this eleven-track nightmarish beast was engineered by Sam Inzerra, Jim Roe and John McEntee. Drums and guitars were recorded at NEANDERTHAL STUDIOS in Plainfield, New Jersey while the bass and vocals were recorded at ARIES STUDIOS in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The CD was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, NIGHTINGALE, BLOODBATH, ODYSSEY, PAN-THY-MONIUM). The cover artwork was created by Dusty Peterson (SIX FEET UNDER, CATTLE DECAPITATION, BLOODBATH).

Dutch Death Metal band ASPHYX entered the studio in January with engineer Frank Klein Douwel to begin recording their new album, DEATHHAMMER. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include REIGN OF THE BRUTE, VESPA CABRO, WE DOOM YOU TO DEATH, ASPHYX-MINEFIELD and DEATHHAMMER. Axel Hermann will create the cover artwork while Dan Swanö (BLOODBATH, EDGE OF SANITY) will take care of the mixing duties.

PREDICTABLE TRAGEDY, the new video from Costa Rica-based Melodic Extreme Metal band SIGHT OF EMPTINESS, can be viewed below. The clip was filmed on 5th February 2011 during SIGHT OF EMPTINESS's  appearance at "Festival Rock En El Farolito", which was held at Parque Morazán in downtown San José, Costa Rica's capital.

Norwegian Progressive Metal band COMMUNIC have issued the following update:
"We have completed the work in studio, the new album is ready, and the result is simply amazing. Dan Swanö[EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH] is currently putting the final touch on the mastering [at Unisound studios in Örebro, Sweden] and we are one step closer to get this album out there. Happy times."

Portuguese ProgressiveRock/Metal band DARK WINGS SYNDROME will play a very special gig on Saturday, 19th February 2011 at Side B Bar in Benavente, Portugal where AVA INFERI (whose line-up includes Norwegian guitarist Rune Eriksen a.k.a. Ex-MAYHEM guitarist/songwriter Blasphemer), will hold a CD-release party for its fourth album, ONYX.

IMR: Hello Siva! Greetings from Team IMR for the release of your debut release EQUILIBRIUM (E.P). How has your response been so far for the latest effort?
Siva(Crypted): Well, so far we’ve got some good reviews from the people who we’ve sold our CDs to. A few of our friends who have no clue about metal seemed to like the title track a lot. We’re yet to receive extensive reviews with some in-depth comments on the EP though.

DARK WINGS SYNDROME, the Rock/Metal outfit hailing from Guimaraes, Portugal has tapped David Castillo (KATATONIA, BLOODBATH) to mix and master their debut album at Ghostward Studio in Stockholm, Sweden. The initial recording sessions for the CD took place at Teatro Construção (ATC), DWS Studio and 213 Studios (Portugal) between August and December 2009/ January 2010 under the directions of Rui Ferreira(DARK WINGS SYNDROME) and Bruno Silva (HEAVENWOOD).
