For lack of a better word, “curious” would definitely be the word to describe Harsha Iyer’s album CURIOUS TOYS. It seems to me that Chennai has become a hub for Experimental/Krautrock type of music. This movement has yet to grasp the music scene of the rest of India which still slumbers peacefully in the lap of either Metal or Alternative Rock. It is a great surprise to see how the youth are finally taking the initiative to independently produce music of the own and remain faithful to their likes and dislikes. Harsha Iyer, a 19 year old Indie musician, has spearheaded this movement with his debut album that has been received with open arms by the changing moods of people’s music choices.

Arihant Why_So_Serious
ARIHANT, after the successful launch of our first single SELF-HATRED are going to release a new single called WHY SO SERIOUS? by the second week of November.

Before I start off with the E.P. review, a small preface. BLUE SKIES AND PAIGN is the solo project of Saib Bilaval, an independent musician from New Delhi. A few of you who read my reviews would know I say this a lot, but in a time and place where metal music is like those electric mosquito attracters, it’s hard to be tempted to try anything else and expect to get noticed (except the Classical and Fusion genres obviously).

Xerath Reform III

REFORM PART III, the new music video from U.K.-based Experimental/Progressive Metal band XERATH can be seen below. The song comes off the band's latest album, II, which released this past May in North America via CANDLELIGHT RECORDS. The clip was shot in two locations - TERMINAL STUDIOS in London near Tower Bridge and a stone masons warehouse in Hampshire - and was directed by David Kenny of SHASH MEDIA.

We are in a time where experimentation in music is the thing, where cross-country genres are being dabbled with, together in the same bowl, and “fusion” as a term is gaining more and more meaning. Ten years previously, you wouldn’t have thought of playing a sitar alongside a DJ scratching away on his turntable, while manipulating the crossfader on his mixer. Even if you would have, you would have met with a lot of raised eyebrows from peers. In the midst of all this, Niladri Kumar, the 37-year old sitar prodigy, who is already a famous name in the Classical Music and Indian Fusion circuit for his unparalleled talent on the sitar, and also for the invention of the ‘zitar’, blends the magic of Indian Classical instruments with new-age sound and churns out a beauty of an album PRIORITY, which is pure auditory bliss. Call the genre Indian Classical, Instrumental, Ambient, Lounge, Experimental or all of them together, it doesn’t matter. This multi-award winning maestro has to be heard and seen to be believed.

XaitaanKaunManWhoreMeetsWomanWhore

Experimental/Pornogrind band XAITAAN KAUN have recently come up with their new single MAN WHORE MEETS WOMAN WHORE on their Reverbnation page.

EnsnaredSilverTearsReview
Following up from their debut E.P, DIRT BEYOND BEAUTY, Guwahati based Progressive/Experimental metallers SILVER TEARS recently released their second E.P titled ENSNARED. For those of you expecting new stuff, you’ll find it in the vocals - Girish Pradhan done the Vocalist cap in this one. The E.P does justice to the band’s genre Experimental in that they’ve tried a hell lot of stuff and churned out a fairly good Metal E.P– jamming in heavy spaced riffs, neatly crafted solos, decent keyboard parts, and a lot of double-bass drumming.
