Yuppicide American Oblivion 2012

Brooklyn’s legendary Hardcore Punk outfit, Yuppicide, will return this summer with its first studio effort in 14 years, "American Oblivion (E.P)," out 4th September via Dead City Records. The six-track EP will be available as a limited-edition CD and 12” vinyl with color booklet including lyrics, rare photos, art and more, and digitally through most online retailers.

Energized both by the warm reception of the band’s commemorative 2010 double CD, 1988-1998 Anthology, and the permanent addition of Jay “Gringo Starr” Rogan on drums, Yuppicide holds nothing back on this six-song EP.

"American Oblivion (E.P)" was recorded by NYHC fixture, Glen Lorieo, at Manhattan's, Night Owl Studios. The result is a raw blast of everything Yuppicide is best known for: speed, intensity, drive, sincerity and a dogged determination to carving its own path through the Punk/Hardcore world.

“Even when the band was apart, I wrote songs for Yuppicide: I'd hear Jesse's voice or Joe's bass,” explains Yuppicide guitarist and founding member, Steve Karp. “Once we started working with new drummer Jay, the reunited band got back into songwriting mode quickly and almost too easily - like we never stopped. "American Oblivion (E.P)" is our very best effort yet, and sums up all our hard work since forming way back in 1988.”

Tracklist-American Oblivion (E.P)
1. Dead Inside
2. Too Late
3. There's A Line
4. American Oblivion
5. Flies On...
6. Not With You

Yuppicide, a mainstay in New York’s revitalized Hardcore scene during the 1990’s, is one of the preeminent bands to rise from the era. The band went on to unleash three full-length studio records, with the last, "Dead Man Walking," releasing in 1995. Once a staple of the New York Hardcore scene, Yuppicide is now considered a legend and an influence to countless bands worldwide.

Stay tuned for more information on Yuppicide and "American Oblivion (E.P)".

The Riot Peddlers-Sarkarsm(E.P) The Riot Peddlers-Sarkarsm(E.P)

"Where's the system?
Cause I wanna fuck it
Mutilation, yeah!"

Pretty much sums it up what we are to expect from Mumbai based The Riot Peddlers- Hardcore/ Punk Rock trio who have come up with their debut EP "Sarkarsm" this year. It's not everyday you come across a proper Punk Rock act in India, and when you do, you'll know it is this tight unit of three young people who write about "Hypocrisy Police brutality Political propaganda Controlled media" and scream their rage out on the face of the system.

"Sarkarsm" contains around 12 minutes of raw, fastpaced, in-your-face tracks that will make you frown and concentrate more on what message the band is trying to put across. From the moment the album kicks off, its pure powerchords and loud basslines and an angry voice protesting against the system through short and crisp tracks not lasting for more than two and a half minutes. You might find traces of RATM in patches but that doesn't undermine the musicality of the band as they have managed to churn out proper Alternative Rock music-naked, bruised with no ornamentation of any kind like lengthy and flashy guitar solos or processed vocals.

"Bollywood Songs" starts off with a distorted rendition of "tujhe dekha toh yeh jana sanam" and what follows are lines like "I hate this song, it makes me sick Bollywood can suck my dick"! Perhaps complaining about the bunch of forgettable and worthless Bollywood songs that have flooded radio airplay these days, the band has not failed to target MTV too, in their own way of course. Heavy chords and fast beats set the mood for the rest of the tracks to follow. How the song ends is worth listening to! 'Where's the system' is the ideal track of the EP. The lyrics are immensely simple, and the message could not be clearer. The short track of less than two minutes captures the very essence of protest music in a way we haven't heard or felt in a long while! "United We Stand" carries on from where the previous track left. Hard riffs, punchy words, no complexities with rage and restlessness emanating out, this is an outstanding little anthem. "Platform No. 3", initially seems to lack the punch of the preceeding tracks but make no mistake, this track is actually a combination of three separate singles - "Platform No 3", "Sau Rupiya" and "Chaai Paani". "Sau Rupiya" and "Chaai Paani" can be heard separately as singles on their Reverbnation or Facebook profile. Contrary to the rest of the tracks, Chaai Paani sounds a little more commercial and Pop-ish, which maybe is the reason why the EP doesn't end on the fiery note with which it starts.

The Riot Peddlers deserves all the credit for sticking to a genre of music which doesn't have too many takers in the country. Moreover, they have made their EP available for "free download", which is a noble initiative. Interestingly, their tracks are so short compared to standards that they will easily be able to pull off a gig in less than an hour having sung close to fifteen tracks! Pretty good, ha?

What Escapes Me-Section 66 Part 5

What Escapes Me Section 66 Review

Two teasers and months of speculation later, “Section 66 Part 5” has been released as the first single off Kolkata based Progressive Metalcore/ Djent 5-piece- What Escapes Me. The band, featuring Guitarists Sayan Ghosh and Arindam Sen, Vocalist Shourav Dey, along with Pradyumna Laskar on Bass and Sambit Chatterjee on Drums, plans to release its debut EP later this year. The the track also track features Prateek Shrivastava who plays the Sarod on it.

Jarring, dissonant riffs, up-tempo skin-slamming, and rumbling Bass-work topped off with an amazing balance between mid-range growls and soothing clean vocals .“Section 66..” is unlike any other single released by a band in recent times- Modern Metal, with dollops of Hardcore, featuring strains of Indian Classical music elements in the form of a Sarod- that’s a new. Fast-paced, groovy, and an uber-tight composition that stays true to its genre- all signs of a band of musicians who know their instruments really well. Already having proven that they are much above your garden-variety Metalcore outfit, a sure-fire place in many of the year-end Best Of lists is what awaits this band if they keep on producing quality tracks in the league of “Section 66...”.

Biohazard Will Release Reborn In Defiance In January

Biohazard 2010

REBORN IN DEFIANCE, the long-awaited new studio album from New York Hardcore/Metal legends BIOHAZARD, will be released on 20th January 2012. The CD will be made a vailable via NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS outside of North America, with a U.S label partner soon to be announced. The band will celebrate the launch with a record-release party in its hometown of Brooklyn, New York before setting off on an extensive international tour.

Not only is REBORN IN DEFIANCE, BIOHAZARD's first original lineup album in 18 years, but it also marks the last album recorded by the band before the departure of bassist and co-vocalist Evan Seinfeld. The effort remains a testament to the four founding members (Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel, Evan Seinfeld and Danny Schuler) and their unique chemistry.

"BIOHAZARD has always been a mixture of our personalities, passion, chaos and angst that makes us who we are," says vocalist and guitarist Billy Graziadei. "It's this energy that comes out of us when we're together that is BIOHAZARD."

Having last recorded and toured as the fundamental lineup with the release of STATE OF THE WORLD ADDRESS back in 1994, BIOHAZARD reformed with all four original members back in 2008 to commemorate the band's 20th anniversary. They went back out on the road together over the next two years, during which time inspiration struck.

"When we first got back together, we knew it would take us a while to figure out how to be a band again," drummer Danny Schuler explains. "We toured the world over the next 18 months and were genuinely surprised when audiences everywhere reacted as positively as they did. So we started jamming, and we knew there was something there for us to build on. We wanted to take the live energy we were creating and capture it in the studio."

The legendary Toby Wright (ALICE IN CHAINS, METALLICA, SEVENDUST, KORN) was brought in to produce the 13-track REBORN IN DEFIANCE, which was recorded in Los Angeles. He turned out to be exactly what the band needed.

"Not only does Toby Wright have excellent music knowledge and engineering skills, but he knew exactly how to work with us on a personal level. He made us keep our attention on the music, and that focus was exactly what BIOHAZARD needed," explains Hambel. "Toby pushed each of us to bring out the best we have to offer, and we went beyond our comfort zone without ever losing sight of the general vision we all had for this record."

Adds Schuler, "It was made in the same tradition of every album we've ever made together, a bunch of guys in a room, looking to move the world with our words and music. We're very proud of what we've done on this record; it ties together everything about what made us unique in the past, with a new attitude and excitement towards the future."

The band will embark on a massive world tour following their record release party in New York, with concerts in Europe, North America, Australia, Asia and South America planned. Dates and details will be announced shortly.

As a thank you for their loyal fans, BIOHAZARD is giving away a free track titled VENGEANCE IS MINE from the new album. Fans can download the track from the band's Facebook page.

Graziadei states, "There are three elements of creating an album: the album you want to make, the album you make and the album you wish you made. REBORN IN DEFIANCE is the first album for us that has hit all three, and we're psyched to finally bring it to the masses."

BIOHAZARD has sold over five million albums worldwide since its formation in the late eighties in Brooklyn, New York. They achieved international success with their albums URBAN DISCIPLINE on ROADRUNNER RECORDS in 1992 and 1994's STATE OF THE WORLD ADDRESS. Over the years, BIOHAZARD has collaborated with ONYX, CYPRESS HILL, AGNOSTIC FRONT, HATEBREED, PANTERA and TYPE O NEGATIVE among others. The band has continued to tour nationally and internationally, sharing stages with HOUSE OF PAIN, SLAYER, DANZIG, FEAR FACTORY, SEPULTURA and AGNOSTIC FRONT.

Black Cobra Completes Work On Fourth Album Invernal

Bay Area's devastating duo BLACK COBRA has completed work on its fourth full-length album, INVERNAL, for a fall release via SOUTHERN LORD RECORDINGS. The follow-up to 2009's CHRONOMEGA was helmed over a week-and-a-half period by CONVERGE guitarist Kurt Ballou and his GODCITY STUDIO in Salem, Massachusetts and is described in a press release as "BLACK COBRA's most honed and diversified material to date."

While BLACK COVRA's full-on tour cycle for INVERNAL has not yet began, as it undoubtedly will very shortly, the band have in the meantime been confirmed for several shows over the coming weeks, including an appearance at the Power Of The Riff festival in Los Angeles on 18th August alongside EYEHATEGOD, PENTAGRAM, WINTER, PELICAN and more, a direct support spot for High On Fire in Oakland on 27th August, an appearance at MusicFest Northwest festival in Portland and more. A rigorous amount of touring will continually be announced through the rest of 2011.

Formed by drummer Rafa Martinez (ex-16, ACID KING) and guitarist/vocalist Jason Landrian (ex-CAVITY), BLACK COBRA catapulted themselves onto the scene in 2001 with their ravenous, upbeat and ultimately unique style of Punk/Hardcore-fueled Sludge Metal. They were picked up almost immediately by indie AT A LOSS RECORDINGS, becoming the band's label home for the release of their debut full-length, BESTIAL, and follow-up album, FEATHER AND STONE. By 2009, with the band then virtually a household name to the tens of thousands of fans who've seen their flooring live performances over the years, BLACK COBRA signed with juggernaut SOUTHERN LORD RECORDINGS for the release of CHRONOMEGA, the band's most diverse material to date.

Vision Of Disorder Streaming New Single The Enemy

THE ENEMY, a brand new song from New York Hardcore band VISION OF DISORDER (a.k.a. V.O.D.) can be streamed below. According to guitarist Matt Baumbach, the track will appear on what will be V.O.D.'s next release "once we figure out what the best option will be for it to come out." He added, "We may just do a self-release at this point. This track is a good example of the style of the record so that's why we picked it first." Other working songtitles that are set to appear on V.O.D.'s next release include HARD TIMES, ANNIHILATOR and BE UP ON IT.

In other news, VISION OF DISORDER will perform at Club Loaded at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, New York on 21st August.

Regarding the musical direction of VISION OF DISORDER's new material, bassist Mike Fleischmann previously told Greg Prato of UGO, "The songs are what you would expect from V.O.D. - very aggressive and melodic. We really feel that on these new songs we have kind of mixed up all of our past efforts into a blender with a dash of new flavor, and we are excited to see what V.O.D. fans will think of it."

VISION OF DISORDER's current lineup includes singer Tim Williams, guitarists Matt Baumbach and Mike Kennedy, Fleischmann and drummer Brendon Cohen.

The band's last studio album, FROM BLISS TO DEVASTATION came out in 2001 via TVT RECORDS.

VISION OF DISORDER toured with some of Metal's biggest names during the late 1990s - including PANTERA, BLACK SABBATH, TYPE O NEGATIVE, ANTHRAX and BAD BRAINS - before calling it quits in 2001, and then reuniting in 2008.
