IMR: Greetings DEMONSTEALER! Thank you very much for accepting this interview with the IndianMusicRevolution. First and foremost, I would like to congratulate you guys for making it to INFERNO FESTIVAL and also signing up CANDLELIGHT RECORDS for the worldwide distribution of your latest album. So, how was it to bring the bands 10th anniversary with such a style in Norway?
DEMONSTEALER:
It was an amazing experience. It’s been a dream to play at the INFERNO FESTIVAL and the whole experience was surreal, not just our performance but experiencing the festival, getting to watch some of the bands you’ve been inspired by and checking out some new acts. This was also the first time any of us were going anywhere in Europe so we really had a blast.

IMR: Greetings THY KRAFT! Thank you very much for accepting this interview with INDIANMUSICREVOLUTION. First and foremost, please give us a brief history of the inception of the band plus the style of music THY KRAFT plays?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft): Firstly, Thanks for your precious support. Well, if we see the inception of the band, the band has been formed in the month of July 08 through the internet. We guys met each other on a social networking website and then planned to meet at a coffee shop “Bake n Shake”. But this was just a beginning. Within just 3 months of the formation of the band, the passion of every member had proved the words “Consider every jam as a performance and every performance a jam”. We tried spreading our words in regional competitions, pub fest and colleges of the city of Bhopal, Indore, Gujarat, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi n many more. Thy Kraft Opened the National Youth Festival “Aarohan, 2008” which is held in Indore every year. Trying to make it big on the national stages and carrying the torch of metal outside the city.

To tell you the Idea of the style of our music, let me tell you something about our E.P.

The E.P. released is all about finding what you are and what you should be. This is a kind of self-empowerment you can say. This is the thing why the band has also been formed, to find more about themselves. That’s why we decided the name of the E.P. to be JALAPENO’s, PICKLE’s AND LIFE. This means nothing but this means a lot. You can find this message in all of our songs.

Music is a thing which has its own language. Every person understands it in a different way and that's what music is. Real music has infinite meanings. Our feel to our music may be different from others but they all meet up at single end which is called JALAPENO’s, PICKLE’s AND LIFE.

Let me tell you what we guys think of our music. Coming to "LET ME BE ME", this is the track which is not only loved by everyone but even felt by everyone. This track is for those people who try to change themselves for others. Well this is what we think.

Coming to "BLOW IT AWAY", this is the first song written by the band in its journey. The feel of the song from our perspective is……………, it’s on a person who is a bit candid, following his right acumen but a bit scared. This song is on a common man who gets scared at the time of calamity. The lines of the verse “Like a thorn it felt… MY soul suffered and rusted in hell". These are those lines which a common man says at the time of calamity. All the verse lines state this. The chorus of the song is made to awake those sleeping men and encourage them to go and fight for their rights.

Coming to “MOVE OUT", this is the track in which we have finally tried to get all of our feelings into it. This track is the conclusion of the above two tracks. "MOVE OUT, MOVE OUT, MOVE OUT" nothing else!!!!!

IMR: THY KRAFT is a very odd name for an Alternative band (from my point of view). When I first heard of your band I thought you guys played Black Metal or Doom Metal – was the picture I had it in my brains. What made you come up with such a different name? Is there any story behind naming the band that you would like to share with our readers?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: Hahaha! See, the band never thought that someone will ever think like this about  the name. Well! There is a story behind it. When we met, we guys were not able to conclude with a satisfactory name. Many kind of names came up but we weren’t satisfied with. We wanted a kind of name which could not only describe the style of the band but also describe its attitude. Days passed but we guys were with no name. As our bassist is great fan of star wars, he said to have a name defining force because of the line in the movie “Let the force be with you”. But we guys neglected his words at that time. So at the time when we ended up with our first composition “BLOW IT AWAY”, we decided to have a name which should define force, force of the people. But the name “The Force” was sounding so awkward. So, again we landed up with failure. Days passed and there was no conclusion AGAIN!!!! At last, while searching on the net, our drummer came up with a Greek word “Kraft” meaning force. Thy stands for “Your” according to Shakespearian English.  There We Were with Thy Kraft.

IMR: Considering the various genres of metal like Death, Black, Thrash and many more (which the crowd really appreciates nowadays), how did you all get influenced to play Alternative Metal altogether?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: See, every style of music has its own feel and power. I told you this earlier also; there are different kinds of people in the world with different religions, castes, feelings and taste. There are people in the world listing to Blues or Jazz and there are people preferring harder forms of music. Well, coming to how we got into this genre is a bit surprising but has to be believed. I always wanted to be a part of a death metal band because I really like the power of that music, In fact death metal was the reason that I came into music. But I was not able to find anyone who was actually willing to play that genre. When we guys met each other, I came to know that our bassist “Akhilesh” is very much into Blues and was not interested in even playing thrash or Heavy metal. Our vocalist “Binoy George” wanted to play alternative because of the grunge in his voice. Our drummer “Mausam” always…………, Well, No comments on him!!! So, by the end of the week we all were fighting each other, ultimately we thought that we'll figure out the genre later on. Then came our first composition, “BLOW IT AWAY”, the song was basically alternative with a heavy touch to it. And being a fully democratic band, we guys decided to have our genre as Alternative Metal because our music senses finally met at some end. Also, Thy Kraft is here to play music for everyone. No age, sex, religion bar. We play what we like and which defines us perfectly, from deep down inside

IMR: I found this line in the bands biography, “Consider every jam as a performance and every performance a jam" could you please tell us what does that mean?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: The words itself define its meaning. We guys try to have that feel, that attitude which a band experiences during its performance, in our jam & on the other hand we guys try to create our jam room, our stage. It feels like, 10,000 people standing in front of you, hooting and cheering for you. That frankness, that progressive attitude, that leadership, with those creepy, dirty jokes should be there in your performance. This is not just with us; even every band on this earth tries to create the same feel. This just helps in making better music.

IMR: Listening to your music shows that lyrics play a vital role in the band’s music. Who is the man behind laying down the lyrical concepts of the band and what are your sources of inspirations?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: See, the band concentrates on the whole music. We never thought to make a song with any one dominant factor. We always tried to make each and every note in the song dominant. If we see towards the lyrical section of the band, the lyrics are written by the help of ideas from every member. Every member in the band contributes his words and opinion to the lyrics and tries to find out the pros and cons of the lyrics regarding the concept of the song. But there is an exceptional case. The Lyrics for the song "Let Me Be Me" are written by one of the band member’s friend "Sakshi Shrivastava". We are thankful to her for such a beautiful contribution. Also, we never make our songs considering only a concept or two. Firstly the music is made. Then seeing the mood of the music and what is going around, the lyrics are written. We never neglect any note in our mind for a concept. This is how we explain our music. We make what we feel is good.

IMR: How has the scene in your hometown strengthen your band and do you have any goals of moving somewhere else to move on with your musical career?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: Well, considering the rock scene in other states, the rock scene of Bhopal or you can say the rock scene of M.P. has not yet approached up to the satisfactory level. This will be surprising, but even we have just done a single gig in our hometown. Even our first show was in Indore, Surprisingly not in Bhopal. So, it will take time to get the smell of rock in Bhopal. But one day will come when this state shall be contributing more composers to increase the rock scene in India. Also, mostly we guys have gone through outstation gigs so the band is ready every time to spread his word in any part of this world. And also try to let this spirit awake.

IMR: What do you want your audience to get the most out of your music?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: Well, as I said earlier, there are different kinds of people with different meanings of music to them. And only that music is real music which has different meanings. So, it’s like, music to us means to know what you are, to find more about yourself. See, as a person gains more and more popularity or gains some confidence, he starts to find more about himself. This is what we feel about music. So, it varies from person to person. But the main thing is, all these paths come and meet at a single end. This is the incredible part of music.

IMR: Which bands today do you enjoy listening to, and feel are unfeigned bands amongst the innumerable others?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: It’s like choosing your favorite drop from an ocean.

IMR: Who do you think are the best Indian band and why?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: Well, this is a tough question. Every band in India is doing good job in their respective field. Also, my answer to this question can create many controversies. But to be frank, I love INDUS CREED because they are the one who faced every kind of circumstances and comments regarding their genre by the people devoted more to Indian style of music. But then also, they kept on trying to get the spirit of rock in India and they are the ones who motivated every second guy to feel the heat of rock. And they are the one who basically introduced what is Indian rock is today all about.

IMR: Considering the future prospect, what do you have in store for your fans and around what concepts will your future material be based upon?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: Well, the band will be releasing its debut album soon. Our music video will be launched shortly, still in search of sponsors!!!! Coming to the concept of future material, we guys don’t concentrate on a particular concept, as I have told you earlier. We believe in making music, that’s it!!!! Looking to the concept of the debut album which is in its production stage, you will get to know when it will release!!!

IMR: THY KRAFT opened the National Youth Festival AAROHAN (2008) which was held in Indore, how it was and what was the outcome?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: Well, That was a great experience. A really great experience because that was our first gig. The sound setup was good. The audience was also responsive. The whole gig went great. We guys have been awarded with our own mementos for such an achievement in music. Some hiccups were there like they closed the curtains at the instant we finished up our third song. So, at that day we came to know the condition of rock scene in Madhya Pradesh. And we got one more outcome from that gig. This one is the most important one!!!! This is that our vocalist cannot sing Hindi. No more words on this as you can see the condition.

IMR: What do you think of the current state of the music scene in our country? How easy/hard has it been to get exposure for the underground bands?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: The scene of music in India is at its peak. If we talk about the rock scene of India, It has improved since the past 10 years and heading its way to new Improvements. If we talk about the area for the exposure of rudimentary bands, It is has been Circumscribed. This is all because the gigs are getting rigged; Bands having contacts are winning competitions. Those who actually deserve it get left behind. I am saying this because we guys have suffered from these kinds of situations. I will not take the name of the gig, but this is a truth which India is facing right now.

IMR: I think it has been only 3 months since the formation of the band and you guys talk about hitting the states with your music (nice). Do you think it will be easily accepted worldwide?

Gus Guitara(Thy Kraft):: The band was formed in JULY, 2008 not 2009… hahaha!!!

IMR: Many thanks for doing this interview with me, please take this opportunity to add anything else you feel is important and has not been covered. Cheers!

On April 17, 2007 "IndianMusicRevolution" announced its non-commercial launch mainly for the promotion of the underground bands present around all 4 zones of India. The project was started by the two maniac's having great enthusiasm towards music from western shore's of"Mumbai", "Ajit Bohra" and "Pravin Prajapati". We are "IMR", we are a team that has its core members in their teen and early tween ages, our only mission is to take Indian music to the fore as Indians are no less in talent but are not able to come up to the surface for the want of a proper platform, while the TV channels convert a less popular band into a popular one for money and TRP’s, we try to surface bands that no one has heard about, and we do not do it for money but for our love for music.

IMR is the brain child of Ajit and Pravin and later Mahesh added in, Pravin wanted to jumpstart with a band of his own but taking initiative comes with its share of problems, with less than average pocket money and below than average locality (its called Bhayander), to start a band with own equipments seemed to be a distinct dream rather. Same place, same time, Ajit a student post T.Y.Bcom was in his odyssey years still not knowing what he was sent on earth for. Pravin often met Ajit and discussed about music, its genre, pedigree et al, and only after much R&D it appeared that making a website was obvious, considering pravins knowledge and Ajit the techie. A website to support only indian bands be it of any genre, a much suppressed topic. Now that the purpose was ready we only required a name befitting it, R&D again, and it was named “indianmusicrevolution.com "(IMR), but every rose comes thorns and things still weren't easy. They were considered a pair of ' nincompoops', and still making moolah0 has never been their prerogative, and finally things looked on the other side of down, and they came up and how’? Like a beanstalk itself and still growing
